A source tells People magazine that the two are still together, but “very much live separate lives.”
There’s no doubt that the couple’s year has been trying. Over the summer, Kim implied that Kanye was in the midst of a bipolar episode. He later went after Kim and her family in a Twitter tirade, even once claiming he was considering filing for divorce.
“Kim has work and projects that are important to her, and Kanye has his,” People’s source said. “Their lives don’t overlap much.”
Still, the couple has no ill will toward each other or their marriage.
“Kim seems happy” and is “very focused on work and causes,” the source said. “She strongly believes she can make a change when it comes to prison reform. This is her passion. Her family is very proud of her.”
Over the years, Kim has become quite the advocate for prison reform. In 2018, she helped free Alice Johnson, a great-grandmother who was incarcerated in October 1996 for a first-time nonviolent drug offense. Since then, Kim has worked to free many other prisoners. Last year, TMZ said Kim is known among inmates as the “Princess of Prison Reform.”
She recently railed against the prison “system” after the execution of a death row inmate in Indiana, a man who she felt was fully reformed. Her work in prison reform also recently caught the eye of the Oklahoma Attorney General.
