Five things that have a bad effect on your skin
We all dream of having perfect skin, right? That’s why we tirelessly rub day cream, night cream, and sunscreen on our faces and why we scrub until we can’t scrub anymore. But while you’re putting a lot of time and effort in these beauty routines, there are actually a lot of other things you can do to improve your skin. You probably don’t realise it, but there are a couple of daily habits and actions that have a bad influence on our skins. We’ve put together a list of these things.
Did you ever stop to consider these things?
1. Being on the road
Whether you take the car, bike or walk everywhere: you can’t avoid air pollution. This has a bigger influence on your skin than you might have thought. But just think about it: UV radiation, exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke are all around us. They play a big role in the ageing process of the skin. You can protect your skin against these things with special products that contain antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients will prevent wrinkles and slow down the ageing.
2. Consuming sugar
Okay, sure, we all know that eating sugar isn’t good for you, but did you know it also affects your skin? When you eat too much sugar, you’ll sooner gain those thin lines and your skin will also become dull. You don’t have to stop eating sugar completely, but just consuming a little bit less for it already makes a difference.
3. Your pillowcase
While you’re sleeping, your skin cells turn over. Who knew, right? And three guesses where the dead cells end up? Right, on your pillowcase. Change your bed sheets at least once a week to prevent your skin from being exposed to bacteria.
4. Your keyboard
Be honest: how often do you clean the keyboard of your computer or laptop? We’re guessing: hardly ever. And that’s pretty weird when you think about it, since you touch those keys almost every day. Here’s an alarming fact: research has found that your keyboard is 20,000 times more dirty than a toilet seat! That makes you feel queasy just thinking about it, right? So, remember to clean your keyboard on a regular basis!
5. Your phone screen
Your phone emits blue light without you noticing it. When you expose your eyes to this light for too long, you’ll have more trouble falling asleep at night. And, in turn, a lack of sleep has a bad effect on your skin. Plus, phones often have very bright screens that can cause you to squint at them. This will give you wrinkles in the long run. Turn down the brightness of your phone and put it to the side a bit more often and your skin will thank you.
