The megastar and his husband, David Furnish, have owned the neighboring property for nearly a decade
An entity tied to the “Rocket Man” singer and his husband, David Furnish, has purchased the home neighboring their existing spread in the well-to-do Trousdale Estates in Los Angeles, property records show.
They paid $8.5 million in the hush-hush deal, which was recorded earlier in September, according to CoreLogic property records.
The duo used the same entity for this month’s purchase that they did for their existing residence, which they bought for a $7.25 million in 2012—using a limited liability company in which Mr. Furnish, 58, was named in the deed, records with PropertyShark show.
They’ve since showed off the brightly decorated modernist property in an Architectural Digest feature, which noted that they’d been seeking a home that was a manageably sized house from the 1960s, and which had access to “a front and back garden and some fresh air,” Mr. John, 74, said in the 2017 article.
And it seems as though that was their wish list this time around, too.
Details of the new spread are scarce, given the off-market nature of the transaction, but what information is online paints a picture of a gated and low-slung single-family home built in 1968 and sitting on a half-acre lot.
The home’s interiors remain a mystery, but property portals suggest it’s fitted with five bedrooms and four bathrooms over 5,343 square feet. Plus there’s a pool and the coveted back garden.
A representative for Mr. John, one of the best-selling music artists of all time, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The popularity of single-family homes in Beverly Hills—the high-end area that’s home to Trousdale Estates—surged during the second quarter of the year, with the number of deals up 43.5% from the same time in 2020, according to data from estate agency Douglas Elliman.
At the same time, the median sale price jumped 25.8% to $6.5 million, making it the priciest pocket of Los Angeles, the figures showed.
Dirt first reported the deal.
