American singer, Britney Spears has revealed she suffered a miscarriage, weeks after announcing she is pregnant with her third child.
Spears disclosed this in a joint Instagram post with her partner, Sam Asghari, on Saturday, saying she wished they had delayed the initial pregnancy announcement.
She also stated that they would continue to try for a new child in order to expand their family.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along.
“However we were overly excited to share the goodness. Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all your support. We kindly ask for privacy in this difficult moment,” the statement read.
The 40-year-old pop icon announced her pregnancy in April, six months after a Los Angeles judge ended the controversial conservatorship that she claimed barred her from having more children.
According to her, the 13-year-long conservatorship which was headed by her father, Jamie Spears, prevented her from removing a contraceptive IUD, despite her desire to have more children.
Jamie Spears was removed from his role in September and the conservatorship was formally dissolved in November.
Already, Spears is the mother of two teen sons, Sean and Jayden, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
