Oranges are a very micronutrient dense and low-calorie fruit. One orange contains about 60 calories. This is relatively low and can help with weight loss or calorie reduction. It also contains 3.1g of fibre. Fibre helps to keep you full, lower cholesterol levels, and promote regular bowel movements. Oranges are a good source of vitamin C, and folate, and also contains other vitamins and minerals, all of which provide individual health benefits. The vitamin C helps your body to absorb iron more if eaten together, and helps your body to make collagen which assists with wound healing. Oranges may help to reduce inflammation in your body. Oranges contain antioxidants which help to fight free radicals in your body and may lower the risk for certain chronic diseases.

Orange is a conventional fruit for providing significant level of vitamin C. Vitamin C is known to boost our immune system by promoting our body to produce more white blood cells and increase their efficiency when it comes to killing viruses and bacteria. Orange also contains other powerful antioxidants such as carotenoids and flavonoids, in which they protect our cells from oxidative stress and reduce the chance of chronic conditions such as heart diseases. Eating oranges with iron-rich foods can also help prevent anemia as vitamin C helps greatly with iron absorption. Oranges (if eaten as a whole) are also great source of dietary fibre. Fibre helps keep our bowel movement regular and also a key player in regulating our blood sugar.
