– It is caused due to mutations in DNA of the cells of bile ducts. Risk factors include:
- Chronic problems in the bile duct
- Age majority of bile duct cancer occurs in middle aged patients, 65 years and older
- Obesity

- Excessive alcohol intake causing liver cirrhosis
