But nasty, hateful comments from trolls reduced her to tears — and she’s opening up about their cruelty.
Last week, ABC announced the lineup for Season 29 of Dancing With The Stars.
The infamous series has a new host and some very eye-catching contestants this year.
Apparently, some people had some cruel remarks over her looks, because Kaitlyn took to Instagram to express her sadness.
“I forgot how mean people are when you go on TV,” she writes across the image.
“Just so many ‘She looks so old and plastic comments’ everywhere,” Kaitlyn laments. “You win today trolls. It got to me.”
“I had a good cry, didn’t somehow ruin my eyeliner,” Kaitlyn shared in a later update, putting her emotions into clear perspective.
“I honestly am so tired,” she confessed, “that anything will set me off right now.”
Kaitlyn added: “plus I am PMSing so great combo.”
“But I felt my feelings,” Kaitlyn affirmed.
“I got it out,” she reiterated, a reference to how healthy self-expression can be.
“Sometimes I like to be honest on here,” Kaitlyn explained, “but not always be ‘woo, happy.'”
“I had a weak moment, cried it out, felt it all,” Kaitlyn described.
She continued: “now poured myself a glass of wine, and remember what’s important in life.”
That sounds like a very healthy perspective in the face of an avalanche of vicious comments.
Bachelor alums are often big names on DWTS, but Kaitlyn isn’t exactly the first name on people’s tongues this season.
Why? Because they cast infamous Tiger King star Carole Baskin.
Though many point out that the documentary was deeply unfair to her, well … many do believe that she allegedly killed her husband.
Kaitlyn was already feeling the pressure even before the haters piled on in her mentions.
See, she has a dance background, so it’s likely that audiences and judges will have high expectations of her.
There’s just one problem with that: she hasn’t danced since she was 20.
Kaitlyn is now 35, so the last time that she was really into dance was … 2005.
My fellow older Millennials and I might like to pretend that 2005 was “just a few years ago,” but it was not.
Experience with dance is great, but if it gives people higher expectations of her and she fails to meet them, it could end up working against her.
Still, the former Bachelorette is devoting a lot of time and energy to practicing her dance moves.
In fact, she says that she has been practicing her first dance so much that boyfriend Jason Tartick is getting a little sick of seeing it.
Well, that’s how dance is — it requires ages of practice in order to make it perfect. Get used to it, my guy. I promise that it’s much, much more tiring for Kaitlyn.
