King Charles III tripped and nearly tumbled to the ground at Kariokor Cemetery earlier today.

How King Charles tripped

The monarch had visited the cemetery to lay a wreath for the fallen soldiers.

The monarch had just laid the wreath and was walking away when he tripped on a roll of fake grass and nearly took a tumble.

A video seen  showed the King’s foot getting caught underneath an artificial grass carpet as he was moving from one grass carpet to another.

Queen Consort Camilla, walking beside him, tried to grab hold of him, but the King got his footing in time.

Being the king that he is, Charles put on a pair of dark sunglasses and walked off gracefully.

Unfazed, he proceeded with the day’s schedule, honouring the soldiers who bravely fought in the First and Second World Wars.

King Charles apologises to Mau Mau

In his speech at the event, the King expressed regret at the atrocities meted out on Kenyans during the colonial era.

He said he felt ‘greatest sorrow and deepest regret’ at Britain’s ‘abhorrent and unjustifiable acts of violence’ perpetrated by British soldiers, particularly during the Mau Mau uprising, adding that there was no excuse for such acts.

“It is the intimacy of our shared history that has brought our people together. However, we must also acknowledge the most painful times of our long and complex relationship,” Britain’s monarch stated.

King Charles is in the country for a state visit that started on October 31 and will run until November 3.

However, he might have to be a bit more careful, considering this is the second time he almost fell since he jetted into the country.

The first incident was no fault of his own but might have still resulted in him making headlines for taking a tumble.

Soldier trips next to King Charles

It was also reported about a Kenyan soldier who tripped and fell just as the King was leaving State House.

The female officer walking hurriedly toppled over a few steps from where Charles conversed with a Kenyan leader.

The incident startled both the monarch and President William Ruto. Fortunately, none of them were hurt.

However, the soldier quickly put herself together, got up and went to open the car door for King Charles.
