Stakeholders in Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have charged the leadership of the party to zone the party’s ticket to Osun West senatorial district in a bid to wrestle power from Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026.

The group during a solidarity rally in Osogbo, the State capital to the party Secretariat, submitted a letter urging the party leadership to ensure equity in power distribution in the state.

Addressing journalists after the solidarity rally, Coordinator of the group under the aegis, Coalition of Osun APC Interest Groups, COAIG, Obafemi Amoo disclosed that for the party to return to power in the state, it should consider picking a candidate from Osun-West senatorial district.

His words, “As concerned persons of our great party, we have come out today in our numbers to register our keen interest again to see Osun State return to APC and align yet again with the central government under the mandate of our change maker- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“And judging from Osun State’s present political climate, we only stand a chance of winning with a candidate from Osun West Senatorial District. Hence, kindly consider our compassionate appeal and passion for this great party. The Progressive Family has enough credible and viable candidates from the West, and we implore that you consider this option in the best interest of our party and Osun State at large.

“It is also important to note that a governor from Osun East Senatorial District has served the state for a period of eight years (8 years) governors from the Central Senatorial District has had an unprecedented opportunity to serve the state for fifteen and half years (8 years of which were progressives’ tenure) in the current political dispensation/republic that started in 1999 while Osun West has never had any opportunity or chance with progressives’ parties”
