Senate President Godswill Akpabio has submitted a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, urging a thorough investigation and prosecution of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over what he calls a “criminally defamatory and inciting” allegation.

The petition, dated April 3 and also directed to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), was in response to comments made by Senator Natasha during a public speech in Kogi State on April 1. In the speech, she accused Akpabio of instructing former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello to orchestrate her assassination, aiming to make it appear as though the attack was carried out by her own constituents.

Akpabio has categorically denied the allegation, describing it as a “malicious falsehood” aimed at damaging his reputation, stirring political tension, and putting his life at risk.

“This allegation is completely baseless, politically motivated, and intended to defame and blackmail me,” Akpabio wrote in the petition.
