Things aren’t any better between Brad Pitt and his oldest son, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, Us Weekly reports—nor has his strained relationship really improved with his 16-year-old son Pax. The outlet was told by a source that Pitt isn’t speaking to Maddox or Pax right now. With Pitt and Maddox especially, “that relationship continues to be nonexistent,” the source said, adding that Pitt doesn’t see Maddox at all.
Pitt and Maddox’s relationship has been strained since 2016, the outlet notes, after Pitt allegedly got into an altercation with Maddox during a private jet flight to Los Angeles. It was that incident that led Angelina Jolie to file for divorce from Brad.
In October, Us Weekly reported that Pitt was disappointed that he and Maddox weren’t closer and that Maddox “hasn’t been receptive” to his attempts to fix their relationship. Last fall, Maddox began college at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, but returned to Angelina Jolie’s house in Los Angeles in the spring, when the coronavirus pandemic prompted the school to switch to online classes for the semester.
A source told the outlet in October that Pax also wasn’t close to his father, but Pitt was hoping things would change. “With Maddox overseas [for college], Brad is also hopeful that Pax will also be interested in reconnecting without the influence of his older brother,” the insider said.
Maddox is the only family member to address reports that his relationship with Pitt is strained. In September, a paparazzo approached Maddox for a street interview while he was at college. Maddox tactfully answered the reporter’s two questions about Pitt.
When Maddox was asked whether Brad would visit him at college, he replied, “I don’t know about that, what’s happening.” The reporter then asked if his relationship with Pitt was over for good. “Whatever happens, happens,” Maddox replied. The focus of the questions from there shifted to Maddox’s new life in South Korea and his studies.
