Suspected terrorists from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have blown up a critical bridge connecting Ngirbuwa to Gonori township in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to intelligence sources who spoke with security analyst Zagazola Makama, the attack occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
The assailants reportedly used an improvised explosive device (IED) to demolish the remaining section of the bridge, effectively severing access between the two communities.
This act of sabotage has significantly disrupted movement and transportation in the area.
The latest incident comes just two days after ISWAP insurgents destroyed the Mandafuma Bridge in neighboring Borno State, raising fresh concerns about the group’s intensified attacks on critical infrastructure in the region.
