Fans were worried at the end of 2021 when Celine Dion postponed her Las Vegas residency due to health problems, stating she had “severe and persistent muscle spasms.”

On Instagram, the singer spoke of her sadness at not being able to honour her commitments to fans: “I’m heartbroken by this. My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and to not be able to open… saddens me beyond words.”

Quiet about her health woes
Dion recently turned 54 years old and has been quiet since her Instagram post about her health woes despite fans’ concerns. The only real information that fans have received was when Celine’s sister Claudette spoke to the French magazine Voici.

Claudette told the French publication that her sister’s health condition was not too concerning. Dion’s sister said, “What’s happening to her is sad. But it’s not serious.”

Doctors weigh in on Celine’s health problems
However, Hello! magazine recently published an article where they spoke to two doctors about the implications of Dion’s health woes. The publication talked to Dr. Ahmed El Muntasar and Dr. Giuseppe Aragona regarding which health conditions could provoke muscle spasms that impede Dion from performing.

Usually not a cause for concern
As her sister mentioned, fans can be assured that Celine’s condition is not serious. “Muscle spasms are not usually a cause for concern and can occur because of a multitude of reasons, which can often make it tricky to pinpoint the problem,” Dr. Giuseppe Aragona told Hello! magazine.

Is stress behind her health problems?
According to Dr. Ahmed, “There can be a variety of causes for persistent muscle spasms.” One such condition the doctor told Hello! is stress, which is most likely unavoidable for a superstar like Celine Dion.

Other possible causes
The doctors that Hello! magazine spoke to also said that other simple issues such as electrolyte abnormalities, dehydration, and over-exercising can provoke muscle spasms.

More serious conditions also possible
However, Celine’s symptoms could also be a sign of more serious conditions. Dr. Giuseppe Aragona told Hello!, “Spasms can sometimes indicate an underlying health condition such as thyroid disease or multiple sclerosis.”

Céline’s roots
