Anew supernaked from Chinese manufacturer CFMoto is in the pipeline after patents appearing to show an updated version of a concept previewed six years ago surfaced.

The firm is making rapid headway into western markets on the back of a successful overhaul of its current range with models like the 700CL-X, 450SR and 800MT, which have helped to shift CFMoto away from its low quality, bargainous impression into a more value-for-money, competitive image.

Its plans for the future show no signs of abating either as it prepares to launch its most important new model yet, the 800NK, which will replace the 650NK and will debut a more daring design direction.

Now fresh patent designs showing a larger version of the NK architecture have been unearthed using the 1279cc LC8 V-Twin from the KTM stable.

The engine is already in service within CFMoto’s ranks with the 1250TR-G tourer, though with 141bhp on tap it is likely to be retooled for more power so as to provide the Chinese company with more viable rival to the KTM 1290 Super Duke.

Meanwhile, the drawings reveal CFMoto will combine elements of the new 800NK [above] with the styling of the V.02-NK, a concept displayed back in 2017 that was thought to have been shelved until now.

The emergence of a 1250NK is just latest surprise from CFMoto in recent weeks after patents purporting to show development of a 1000cc V4 sportsbike also appeared.
