As reported by @NYPost, allegedly claim to be official patent for a device that is capable of “reading a man’s thoughts” and determining when he is watching porn. It is said that the current prototype device has the ability to detect brain waves that are triggered when a man is exposed to lewd contents. The study was conducted on 15 male students who were placed in front of a computer screen where porn was played and put on a device on their head. The mind reader will then be able to process a collection of photos and videos and tag anything suspicious.
Xu Jianjun, who conducted the research and is also the director of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Beijing Jiaotong University, said the device’s goal is to “detect bad information.” He also claims that the results are 80% accurate and are able to filter out additional signals that could potentially cause brain waves when emotions are emitted on non-porn related content.
Meanwhile, Chinese government officials are serious about combating porn consumption by introducing censors known as “porn appraisers” who are tasked with searching social media to flag obscene content.
Due to the fact that porn in China is illegal, researching the mind reader was difficult as the resulting explicit content had to be edited and censored to avoid criminal liability.
