The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin-Can Island Command, has intercepted some arms and ammunition allegedly being smuggled into the country by a criminal gang.
The discovery were made during an inspection of consignments imported into the country.
The arms recovered were automatic single-barrel rifles and pump action guns.
Other items recovered were military camouflage, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
This interception is coming barely eight months after the Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, told journalists that two suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal importation of 31 arms of various types at Tin-Can and Multi-Purpose Terminals (PTML) ports in Lagos.
