The Czech Republic has officially ended its dependence on Russian crude oil, marking a major milestone in the country’s energy diversification strategy and a decisive step toward greater energy security.
The announcement came as Czech officials confirmed the completion of infrastructure upgrades that now allow the country to receive oil exclusively through alternative supply routes, primarily via the TAL pipeline, which transports oil from Italy’s Adriatic coast.
This transition follows years of planning accelerated by geopolitical tensions and the ongoing consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Until recently, a significant portion of the Czech Republic’s oil supply came via the Druzhba pipeline, which originates in Russia.
