Harry previously took the place after his brother William

Better than Andrew
Andrew of York was left disgraced after a messy lawsuit full of scandalous accusations. He has made his way firmly down the page to last on the list. Harry and his wife, Meghan, appear just above the shamed royal son of the late queen Elizabeth II.
Andrew’s less than impressive profile
The Duke’s profile is a somber thing to read. It states how he was stripped of his royal patronages in January 2022 and continues as a private citizen. It goes on to say, ‘Prior to stepping back from public life, The Duke of York undertook a wide range of public work, with a strong economic and business focus.’ No more.
Meghan on the royal website
Yet, Meghan’s profile is not much better. Just above Andrew, we get a photo of Meghan and a link to her profile which mentions she married Harry and then stepped back from royal life. Not much more is mentioned other than the Duchess continues to ‘support a number of charitable causes and organisations’.
Prince Harry on the royal website
Harry’s profile is entirely different, however. Pages upon pages of information and social links are pasted onto the webpage that provides a biography of Prince Harry. A very detailed biography.
A long text, but not up to date
However, despite a good chunk written about the Invictus Games (the latest held in 2022), it seems this text has not recently been updated as it still promises he carries out his duty ‘for The Queen.’ Perhaps there will be an update here soon
What happened?
Why were Harry and Meghan ‘demoted’ by King Charles on the webpage?
Insignificant change?
The Daily Beast reveals that a royal source said there was “no significance” to the Sussex’s new location, aside from the fact that they have stepped down as working royals and the website received a ‘periodic update’.
The working members of the royal family
A source told The Daily Mail: “The change has been made because the Duke and Duchess are no longer working royals, unlike those who now appear above them.” They come after long-time working royals such as Princess Alexandra, the Duke of Kent, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
Is King Charles highlighting the important members of the royal family?
The new order of those on the royal webpage could be down to the fact that King Charles was after a more conservative royal family, with only those in working roles becoming the front runners of The Firm.
Keeping the group small
It has been widely reported that King Charles has been pursuing a more streamlined and cost-effective royal family.
Harry and Meghan out of the spotlight
There is also speculation that the decision to move the couple down the line on the webpage has been made to try and keep Harry and Meghan out of the spotlight and reduce their perceived importance as members of the royal family.
Protecting the Crown
The Daily Beast cites a source that has warned “Charles will be ruthless when it comes to protecting the Crown, and that means keeping Harry and Meghan as far from the center of gravity as possible.”
The King encouraged Harry and Meghan to leave royal life
Back in 2021, Clarence House disclosed that Prince Harry and Meghan were given a ‘substantial sum’ in order to set up their new lives overseas. This was after the bombshell interview with Oprah in March 2021, when Harry stated that the royal family had simply “cut him off.” Was Charles trying to encourage them to stay out of the spotlight?
A soldier…
As his profile on the royal webpage states, Prince Harry served ten years working in the Armed Forces and conducted two tours of duty to Afghanistan with the British Army.
The return of Harry and Meghan
The couple walked away from their roles as working royals in 2020 and went to live a relatively secluded life in the United States, protecting their children from the press. But they have been back to visit on a few occasions – the most recent being the funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Harry’s grandmother.
…stripped
However, King Charles decided that his youngest son was not allowed to wear his military uniform. British military personnel are usually not allowed to wear their uniforms unless they have been permitted to do so and are in an ‘honorary appointment’.
The future of the monarchy
The King is looking ahead to a new monarchy, and it seemingly does not include Harry and Meghan. But they are, of course, son and daughter-in-law of Charles. The king’s first speech stated how he loves Meghan and Harry but agreed that their new life is far from the one laid out for them by The Firm.
Their decision
‘True Royalty TV’ co-founder Nick Bullen made the message clear in an interview with Fox News Digital. He says the King sent out the following message: “You’ve made your decision on what you want to do, and I support you in that, but that’s your decision.”
A turbulent year
The apparent demotion of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can also be a way to prepare the royal family for the blow of Harry’s new memoir, to be released later this year.
