Patience Patra Idehen, the young businesswoman behind the once-popular brand Face of Beauty Nigeria, has cried out online that she has lost everything she has to her husband and his family and he has left her.
Patra married her husband when they were both still students of the University of Benin. Though she was a student at the time, she was making so much money from her beauty brand.
Since her partner was just a regular student and wasn’t making any money, she became a bread winner.
She said they began dating in 2017 and got married in 2018 while they were still in school. They welcomed two children in quick succession.
She was the breadwinner of the family and she said she did it happily.
However, she said trouble started last year when she bought a car in her name. She said she noticed her husband’s countenance changed then and so did his actions towards her.
Subsequently, she said she began to lose everything, including her source of income.
She said her husband then advised her to sell off her new car, so she did and put the money into running their home.
Later, they were in need of cash again, so she had to sell the house she was building. It turns out it was her husband’s aunt who bought the house.
She said her husband then told her he wanted to go for a course and he needs about a million Naira. It was the last money she had and she gave it to him.
After he left for the course, he sent her a message that he is not coming back and he had already clocked out of the marriage since 2019, when they were just one year into their marriage.
She added that he also abandoned their two kids and she has to beg to feed them.
She explained that the house she is currently living in is mouldy and leaks and this causes her children to be sick
However, whenever she reaches out to her husband for help, he tells her things that make her feel bad about herself, then he ends up sending her two thousand Naira only (#2,000), or in some cases five thousand Naira (#5,000).
She said there are times she goes hungry for 2 days so her children can eat.
She added that her landlord has now asked her to leave because their rent has expired and he recently embarrassed her in full view of the neighbours over her unpaid rent.
In an interview with Business Day, Patra cried out for help to take care of her kids and find a new roof over their heads.
Friends who knew Patra from school have expressed outrage. They pointed out that she gave her all to her husband, even when they were still students. They added that they are shocked to see what he has reduced her to.

They shared the advice in reaction to the sad story of Patience Patra Idehen, the Face of Beauty Nigeria founder whose husband left her when she became broke while providing for the family alone.
Reacting, Erica wrote: “Men not doing as well as their partners are always jealous, and look for ways to humble you. Ladies beware!”
Kim Oprah added, “Very scary shit, and it happens more often than we know.”
