The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively. This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government. In his statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians across the country on this joyous occasion.

Easter holds significant religious importance for Christians, symbolizing the resurrection of Jesus Christ and serving as a time for reflection, renewal, and celebration. The declaration of these public holidays provides citizens with an opportunity to observe the festivities and engage in various religious and cultural activities associated with the season.

As Nigerians prepare for the Easter celebrations, the government encourages citizens to embrace the values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, which are central to the Easter message, and to use the occasion to foster unity and harmony within communities.
