Five Suspected Kidnappers Shot Dead by Police in Delta, AK-47s Recovered

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have shot dead five suspected kidnappers during a gun battle, recovering two AK-47 rifles and other weapons.

The operation took place on Saturday in the Oghara area of Ethiope West Local Government Area following a tip-off about the activities of the gang, who were allegedly planning to abduct a prominent businessman. Acting swiftly, the police stormed the gang’s hideout, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

According to the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, the suspects opened fire on sighting the police team, prompting a fierce shootout that left five members of the gang dead.

In a statement, the police noted that aside from the two AK-47 rifles, several rounds of live ammunition and other incriminating items were also recovered at the scene.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State, expressed satisfaction with the operation, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to ridding the state of violent criminals. He urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.

The police assured that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang who may have escaped during the raid.
