Donald Trump averaged a 45% approval rating during the first quarter of his second term, according to a Gallup poll—making it the second-lowest score for any U.S. president at this point in office since World War II.

By comparison, during the same period in his first term, Trump’s approval rating was even lower, at just 41%.

The most popular president in their first quarter remains John F. Kennedy, who held a remarkable 74% approval rating in 1961, followed closely by Dwight D. Eisenhower with 71% in 1953.

Since returning to office, Trump has signed a wave of executive orders that have dramatically reshaped the political landscape. Among the most controversial moves: the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—headed by tech mogul Elon Musk—and the initiation of a global trade war through sweeping new tariffs.
