Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed two persons, identified as Suru Arije, 59, and Ilufoye Azeez, 30, and abducted a yet-to-be-identified woman in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that the incident happened around 11am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in the Alagemo community of Igbelaara, off Ijede road in Ikorodu.
Four vigilantes were also injured during the attack.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity to sources on Thursday said that she got to know about the incident in their community WhatsApp group.
“In our community Whatsapp group, I discovered that people started asking if people at Igelaara were safe. After asking around, we learnt that the gunmen attacked the area and killed two people and also kidnapped some persons. It happened at Alagemo which is part of Igbelaara, Ijede, in Ikorodu,’ the source said.
A Facebook user posted a video from the scene of the incident, saying that the latest kidnapping is the 6th in the community in two months.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the publication on Thursday.
“It happened around 11am. Two persons died, four others were injured, and one woman was kidnapped,” the PPRO said in a telephone interview.
He added that the injured persons were responding to treatment at the clinic.
“We have commenced an investigation into the incident. We are on it.”
