Kylian Mbappe has caused quite a stir as it has been claimed he is looking for an exit route from PSG in the January window.

The 23-year-old star only extended his contract with the French champions in the summer, but he is already looking for a way out.

It was thought that Mbappe would sign for Real Madrid in the summer, but he instead opted to stay in France for a record-breaking deal until 2025.

France’s all-time top goalscorer Thierry Henry has weighed in on the issue and he believes Mbappe should get his head down.

He told CBS Sports: “We know he doesn’t like it (playing No.9) and I think like I was saying, nobody likes to be exposed to what you’re not good at.

“You just don’t like it, but there is something that’s bigger than everyone else and that’s the club.”

Henry compared Mbappe’s current situation to his time at Barcelona.

He added: “I will use my own story. I didn’t like to play out wide for Barca. I hated it. But I did it for the team.”

“There is one rule: if the boss asks you to do something, you do it, – if it’s good for the team!

“If it’s bad for the team, I would get the argument.”

PSG currently sit top of Ligue 1 and have started the season well under new manager Christophe Galtier.

Lionel Messi and Neymar have looked back to their best during this campaign, but Mbappe is said to be unhappy with his current role in the side.

French journalist Julien Laurens explained on CBS: “We were told today, this afternoon, the story is that he is unhappy. Very unhappy.”

“The promises that were made to him by the club, the project that was sold to him by the club, that hasn’t been kept.

“They said they would sign a No.9 in the summer, so he would play off the No.9 with Messi, there would be no Neymar, they would sign a centre-back, he would be at the centre of the project – none of those things have happened.

“That, on top of all the tension we saw in recent weeks, has got us to this point where he’s decided to leave as soon as possible, which will be in the January transfer window.”

Realistically there are only a handful of clubs that could afford Mbappe and match his huge wage demands.

Real Madrid would be the obvious destination for the French star, but PSG’s fractured relationship with Florentino Perez makes it unlikely at this stage.

Liverpool have also been touted as a possible destination, but they have been reluctant to hand out lucrative contracts in the past.
