The insurance market closed the week on a positive note as the ASI gained 0.43 basis point to close at 192.71 on the back of mixed performance in the sector.
At the close of the week ended 21st January, AIICO insurance was valued at N30 billion at N0.82 per share. The amount depicts a 2.5% gain over its previous closing price of 0.80 and a week on week gain of 3.8% from the valuation of N28.9 billion last week (depicting N1 billion gain).
Meanwhile, the market cap of all sixteen insurance firms listed on the NGX totalled N130.8 with AIICO insurance on the number one spot as the most capitalized while AXA Mansard and NEM follow with a valuation of N21 billion and N18.6 billion respectively.
Notably, the NGX closed on a positive note amidst sell-offs and buy-interests as the benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 15 basis points to close at 45,957.35 points, from the previous trading day and a Year-to-Date (YTD) return of 7.59% as market capitalization increased by N36.01 billion.
