The Wiper leader’s visit to Ankara was confirmed by Kitui senator Enoch Wambua, his close ally.

Whereas there were rumours that Kalonzo travelled to Turkey on a diplomatic mission on behalf of the Kenyan Government, Wambua denied the claims and stated he was on a ‘private visit’.

“This is to clarify that HE Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is in Turkey on a private visit. The speculation that he could be out there on a diplomatic mission on behalf of the Kenyan government is cheap propaganda motivated by bad faith on the part of its originators,” the lawmaker said as reported by Daily Nation.

Wambua insisted that the Wiper leader’s tour had nothing to do with Aydin.

Ruto’s aborted Uganda trip

Aydin was at the centre of the saga surrounding Deputy President William Ruto’s aborted trip to Uganda.

He was reportedly bundled onto a Turkish airline en route to Istanbul at about 5am on Monday, August 9, on allegations of terrorism links.

Itumbi claims Kalonzo on damage control mission

Dennis Itumbi, a self-proclaimed spokesman of the so-called hustler nation, had claimed Kalonzo was on a damage control mission on behalf of the Kenyan government.

He said the government dispatched Kalonzo on Thursday, August 12, night to apologise to the Turkish government over the fiasco around Aydin.

“He will be telling Turkey that the whole drama was based on a mistaken identity,” Itumbi posted on his Facebook page on Friday, August 13.

Matiang’i describes Aydin as a criminal

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Friday described Aydin as a criminal.

While briefing the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security at Serena Hotel, Mombasa, the CS said Kenya’s decision to deport Aydin was informed by intelligent reports that he forged work permits.

Matiang’i said that Aydin applied for an investor work permit Class G.

“But when we analysed the records of this gentleman, we realised that even the phone numbers he filled out in the form for which he acquired the work permit belong to some other person somewhere; they are not his phone numbers.”
