Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has voiced her support for widespread protests targeting President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. The demonstrations, held across the country on April 5, 2025, oppose the administration’s aggressive policy overhaul under the controversial Project 2025.

Harris, who lost to Trump in the 2024 presidential election, took to X to commend Americans for speaking out:

“Today, in every state across our nation, Americans are standing up to the administration as they implement Project 2025 at full speed. Thank you for using your voices and the power of protest to stand for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid; for the Department of Education and programs like Head Start; for clean air and water; and for the right to make decisions about your own body without government interference.
The voices of working people will always be louder than the unelected billionaires.”

Critics fear Project 2025 will lead to deep cuts in public services and social welfare programs. A major flashpoint is the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, which has begun audits and reviews across key sectors such as education, healthcare, defense, and foreign aid.

In response to the protests, the White House defended the reforms, citing “early results” and the administration’s commitment to reducing government costs and streamlining operations.
