- Dennis Murimi, better known as Dennoh Spinner, became a casual labourer after losing his Qatar job
- After that, his option was to become a mjengo worker to make ends meet, and met Christine
- The two fell in love and later married, and he shared how they braved opposition from both sides of their families
Dennis Murimi alias Dennoh Spinner, a Kenyan man viral for attending the Safari Rally with his son, has shared how he met his wife, Christine.
How did mjengo man marry boss’s daughter?
“I was working as a casual labourer and happened to be employed at her parents’ site. Christine was the one paying us,” said the renowned motoring MC.
Dennoh said Christine saw beyond his menial job and struck a friendship.
“One thing led to another, and we started dating secretly because she was still studying and our class differences.”
Christine’s preacher father was unimpressed after learning about the relationship.
“He feared that I was a casual labourer out to make his daughter pregnant and disappear. He even summoned Nyumba Kumi officials to speak to us. Christine informed that that we were in love.”
Dennoh and Christine waited for her to complete school before moving together in 2019.
“Her parents were still unconvinced. I later realised they didn’t hate me but were looking out for her.”
Six months after moving in, Christine’s mother visited them, marking a change in their relationship.
“I have the best parents-in-law. They are supportive and love us,” Dennoh said.
The father of two disclosed that his parents were also opposed to the marriage.
“They wanted me to marry my ex. I got depressed as both our families were fighting our relationship.”
However, his parents came around and gave the couple their blessings.
Dennoh noted that their families were not wrong for questioning the relationship.
“You can be fought physically and spiritually. You need to ask yourself why. Maybe they know the family you are marrying into has a bad reputation.”
He advised couples by saying:
“Stand with your partner, and nobody will come in between you.
Marriage works not because we don’t fight but because we purpose to make it work for our kids.”
Why did Dennoh Spinner do mjengo?
Dennoh previously shared how he struggled for a while after losing his job.
According to Dennoh, he left for Qatar for work but was fired.
He had no choice but to return to Kenya and do mjengo, trying to figure out his next move.
