TMZ is reporting that she will keep the house in the divorce.
Interestingly, the home, located in Hidden Hills near the rest of Kim’s famous family, was designed by Kanye as part of a passion project. But, it’s the only home that the couple’s four children have known, so the duo wants that stability for their sake. Plus, the webloid notes, Kim “really likes the house” and doesn’t really want to move either.
In January, a source told Page Six that Kim was desperate to keep the home.
“Kim is trying to get Kanye to turn over the Calabasas house to her, because that’s where the kids are based and growing up. That is their home,” Page Six’s source said. “She owns all the land and adjoining lots around the house but Kanye owns the actual house. They’ve both put a lot of money into renovating it.”
Kanye is expected to permanently live at his ranch in Wyoming, where he’s spent the bulk of his time over the last several years.
After months of speculation that their marriage was on the rocks, Kim formally pulled the plug last month and filed for divorce. The split is reportedly amicable, and Kim is filling for joint legal and physical custody of daughter North, 7, son Saint, 5, daughter Chicago, 3, and son Psalm, 20 months. By all accounts, the reality TV star will still have the lion’s share of custody.
While Kim is clearly moving forward with the divorce, Kanye apparently has hope of a reconciliation.
“The divorce has been difficult for him, but knowing that he has access to his little ones and has split custody is making the transition easier,” a source told ET. “Kim and Kanye are in contact with regards to their kids. Kanye has hope that they will reconcile, but he is not expecting that in the immediate future.”
Kim, though, is happy just co-parenting, as the source added that she’s “absolutely relieved” to be ending the marriage.
“She is happy to see that chapter close. She knows that it is what is healthiest for her and her family and she is ready to put this hardship behind her both publicly and personally,” the source said. “Kim has had her moments of feeling overwhelmed as a mom, of course, but the fact that her family has been so unified and supported her through this difficult time has made things so much easier for her to process.”
