Korra Obidi is being slammed by some Facebook users after she flew to Hawaii in the United States to celebrate Mother’s Day just days after over $55,000 was donated to her for legal fees.
The singer/dancer created a GoFundMe account to raise $100,000 so she can get a good lawyer to overturn a decision by Facebook to ban her from posting her kids on the platform after her ex-husband Justin Dean reached out to the social media giant.
In just days, she raised over $55K.
Then, on Mother’s Day, May 12, she posted a video of her packing a luggage to go on vacation.
“Escapism,” she tagged the video.
Speaking in the video, she disclosed that she is going to Hawaii.
She said: “One thing I’ve learned from dealing with a narcissist is you have to prioritise your wellness otherwise all that stress they put on you is going to start showing. That’s what they want. They want you to look like what they’re putting you through.
“It’s a shame that on Mother’s Day, I’m ashamed to post my children on Mother’s Day because my ex has weaponised my children’s images. So I cannot even share the joy of being a mother on MOther’s Day.
“This is why I’m going to escape right now. No, I’m not escaping out of this world, no. I’m just going to a destination.”
Fans in the comments wished her a Happy Mother’s Day and safe journey. Some asked if her father, who is with her in the United States, would also go with her on vacation.
Despite receiving support from her fans, other Facebook users slammed her. They pointed out that many of those who donated to her gave from little and can’t afford to travel, but she is travelling after claiming she needed money and receiving donations.
