The Federal Government has announced the temporary closure of a major bridge in Lagos starting April 27, 2025, to allow for critical maintenance and structural repairs. The move is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade initiative aimed at ensuring safety and improving transportation efficiency across key urban routes.
According to a statement from the Federal Ministry of Works, the bridge will be partially shut down in phases to minimize traffic disruption, with diversions and alternative routes to be clearly marked and managed by traffic enforcement agencies.
Commuters and motorists have been advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and expect delays during peak periods. The repair work is expected to last several weeks, although officials have assured that efforts will be made to fast-track completion and restore full access as soon as possible.
The bridge, a vital link for thousands of daily commuters in Lagos, has shown signs of wear over the years, prompting engineers to recommend urgent maintenance to prevent further deterioration.
Authorities have called on the public for cooperation and patience during the period of repair, emphasizing that the temporary inconvenience is necessary for long-term safety and structural integrity.
