Man United captain, Bruno Fernandes breaks player silence on Erik tenHag

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has broken his silence on Erik ten Hag’s sacking as manager.

Earlier on Monday, October 28, United confirmed the decision after Ten Hag after their 2-1 loss at fellow strugglers West Ham, with the club sitting down in 14th after picking up just 11 points from their first nine Premier League matches.

A club statement read: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”

Assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has been put in interim charge, and remains the favourite to get the job on a permanent basis. The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Gareth Southgate, Thomas Frank and Ruben Almiron are also in the running.

Fernandes, who has come under fire for his performances in recent weeks and months, acknowledged the club’s poor form and thanked the departed Dutchman for his services.

Fernandes wrote on Instagram: “Thanks for everything, boss! I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best.

“Even knowing the last period hasn’t been great from all of us, I hope you fans can keep with you the good things Erik has done for our club.”
