Welterweight beltholder Terence Crawford is a possibility for Pacquiao if the payday is right.
“I like to fight somebody who has a title,” Pacquiao said in the interview. “We told Bob [Arum] I get $40 million and Crawford gets $10 million. I will fight anybody. You know me. I don’t back away from any challenge. Bring ’em on!”
Pacquiao originally planned to face MMA star Conor McGregor in a fight that would’ve earned both men an enormous purse. However, the matchup was derailed by the Irishman’s recent loss to Dustin Poirier.
Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) last fought in July 2017, when he outpointed Keith Thurman to win his title. Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) is coming off a fourth-round knockout of Kell Brook this past November.
The Filipino icon, who lost his 147-pound title and was designed “champion in recess” recently due to inactivity, told the Daily Tribune that he wants a big fight against a current titleholder next. And he expects to make a lot of money.
