Members of the Royal Family have shared a tribute to the Queen Mother with vintage photograph

The Royal Family paid tribute to the Queen Mother yesterday (4 August) on what would have been her birthday.

A post on the Clarence House Instagram account from Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall honoured the Queen’s late mother by sharing a touching black and white photograph from more than 50 years ago.

The Royal Family’s Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have shared a tribute to The Queen Mother to mark what would have been her birthday.The photograph shows The Queen Mother smiling and sitting in the garden with a dog and three of her grandchildren, one of whom is a young Prince Charles.

The Prince looked adorable, grinning in a proper suit and tie with shined, formal shoes. The photo was taken in the year 1960, which would have meant Prince Charles was around just 12 years old at the time.

“On this day in 1900, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was born,” explained the a post alongside the image. It added that The Queen Mother “lived at Clarence House for nearly 50 years.”

Also included was a photograph of a mantlepiece showing three framed images, two of them painted portraits and one large, framed image of the Queen.

“The silver vase with rosemary seen in the first photo was given to The Queen Mother as a gift on her 100th birthday,” explained the post on the Clarence House social media account.

Also celebrating her birthday yesterday was the Duchess of Sussex, who turned 40 years old.

Many members of the Royal Family posted happy birthday messages to Megan including the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Eugenie.
