Naomi Campbell took Architectural Digest on a tour of her luxurious villa in Kenya on Tuesday, complete with four stunning pools, authentic African furnishings, and a spa treatment facility.

Right off the coast of the Indian Ocean in Malindi, the supermodel’s sprawling property effortlessly combines indoor and outdoor space to achieve an airy and tranquil home.

She first visited Malindi in 1994 before ‘falling in love’ with the tropical location in 1999 and eventually buying a property in the seaside town.

The villa exists beneath a Makuti roof, a thatching method made from the sun-dried leaves of the coconut palm.

Naomi, 50, sauntered around her living room which boasted a large indoor swimming ball, chic furniture created and sourced locally, and a balcony hallway skirting the expansive room. She said she uses the space to gather with friends and loved ones before or after dinner.

She adorned the ceiling with elaborate Moroccan lambs while accessorising tastefully with coffee table books, soft blue furnishings and plants.

‘This is the coldest pool in the house,’ the runway star said, referring to the focal point of the room. ‘This is because it can get very hot here so this is the cold pool.’

Traditional dining tables and seats were dispersed outdoors, positioned underneath wooden gazebos to protect guests from the scorching heat.

‘I think wood is so grounding,’ Naomi added as she explored the different rooms in the villa and noted the exposed beams on the ceilings throughout.

Maintaining the understated yet stylish aesthetic, local artifacts, African textiles and authentic Kenyan art was peppered around the property.

From the comfort of her sweeping upstairs balcony, Naomi looked over an additional outdoor pool and accompanying sun deck for lounging.

Her coastal property also boasted a separate seating area for breakfasts and buffets, complete with a Makuti roof and multiple ceiling fans for added comfort.

Naomi continued: ‘People have such the wrong perception of Africa, it’s a beautiful place. This is definitely my go-to place of chilling, relaxing, completely shutting down. Kenya is a natural gem, it has the safari, it has the bush, it has the coast, it has the dunes, it has all the elements and people don’t realise that.’

The extensive property also featured a separate building, known to Naomi as ‘new houses,’ which comprised of four rooms and a kitchenette. ‘It’s nice, everyone has their own area so they can do what they want,’ she said, referring to the space as accommodation for her guests.

‘The first time I heard about Kenya was from my aunty June and then the second time I heard about Kenya was from Lauren Hutton who always said to me, when she would go to Kenya to revitalize after working – I mean Lauren Hutton is Lauren Hutton, legendary – she would always say, “I would come back with a real smile.”

‘And I remember the first time when I was coming to Kenya and I said to Lauren, “I’m going to Kenya,” and I remember she said to me, “look at your smile when you get back, you’re going to have a real smile,” and I so understood what she meant. 100 per cent.’

Carving out a space to lose oneself in beauty rituals, the model revealed her very own spa which featured hydrotherapy, a treatment she recommends to all guests upon their arrival.

Naomi’s master bedroom boasted a serene lounging area complete with a white sofa and striking artwork on the walls.

Concluding the tour around her exquisite home, the catwalk model showed off the beach, just across the street from her property.
