During the US campaign trail, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump delivered a radically different message on the prospect of polls, accusing each other a ‘threat to democracy’.

US Presidential Election Live: As US inches closer to November 5 presidential election, a poll survey done by Reuters predicted that Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris held a marginal 3 percentage-point lead over Republican Donald Trump – 45% to 42%. The latest polls survey done by the news agency closed on Sunday indicated that voters particularly Democrats – might be more enthused about this year’s election than they were ahead of the November 2020 presidential election when Democrat Joe Biden defeated Trump.

While poll campaigns get heated up, Harris and Trump delivered a radically different message on the prospect of polls wherein Harris said that “Trump is a threat to democracy”. “In many, many ways Donald Trump is an unserious man, but the consequences of him being president of the United States are brutally serious,” Harris, 60, said at an event in Malvern in Pennsylvania, one of seven battleground states.

Meanwhile, Trump often rejects the notion of being a threat to democracy rather argues that it is Democrats who are the real threat to democracy due to the criminal investigations he and his allies have faced for their attempts to overturn his 2020 election loss. US Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday hit out on her rival Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump saying Russian President Vladimir Putin will be “sitting in Kyiv,” Ukraine’s capital city, if he is elected to power.

“He has said, Donald Trump, I will solve the matter of Ukraine and Russia in a day. Read through and understand what he is saying. He would surrender,” Harris was quoted as saying by CNN during an event in Michigan with former Rep. Liz Cheney and Maria Shriver.

Harris added: “He would have Ukraine surrender its fight against an aggressor violating its sovereignty. If Donald Trump were president, Vladimir Putin will be sitting in Kyiv, and understand what that would mean for America and our standing around the world.”

Notably, Trump had declined to say whether he wants Ukraine to win the war and termed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “salesman” who “should never have let that war start.”

As US election campaigns get heated up, a spate of violent attacks have been reported in different parts of the country. A man accosted a group of people rallying for Vice President Kamala Harris’ White House campaign, punching a 74-year-old man in the head and calling another man a “n— supporter” as he fled.

An assailant who fiercely opposes Donald Trump used an all-terrain vehicle to run over and injure an 81-year-old man who was putting up a yard sign for the former president’s reelection bid.

Although the restaurant was closed to the public for the visit, it attracted significant attention.

In a message to employees obtained by the Associated Press, McDonald’s clarified that the event was not an endorsement of any political candidate. Derek Giacomantonio, the owner-operator of the location, had reached out to corporate after learning of Trump’s interest in visiting a Pennsylvania restaurant. Harris said at the townhall in Oakland County, “There’s something, an undercurrent that is violent in terms of the language and the tenor, and for her to show the courage she has shown is extraordinary,” reported CNN.

Cheney said that it wasn’t scary for her to come out and support Harris in the upcoming US Presidential election and speak against former President Trump as the Republican candidate is “doing everything he can to try to get people to forget about what he did” on January 6.

The Democratic candidate Kamala Harris on Monday said that the US will have to raise its federal minimum wage and labeled the current minimum wage of $7.25 an hour as “poverty wages”.

Republican candidate Donald Trump, whose campaign trail stopped at McDonald’s restaurant in Philadelphia, was asked about the federal minimum wage but the former President did not answer directly.

“The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, which means that the person who is working a full day and full weeks will make $15,000 a year, which is essentially poverty wages,” Harris said as reported by Reuters, adding that she firmly supports the increase in federal minimum wage.
