The Lagos State Government has unveiled a new set of specially designed vehicle number plates for persons with disabilities (PWDs), in a move aimed at promoting inclusion, accessibility, and road safety.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, is part of a broader strategy to recognize and support the rights of persons with disabilities within the state.

According to officials, the new plates will feature distinctive markings and symbols to easily identify vehicles belonging to individuals with disabilities. This is expected to help in providing priority access to parking spaces, reduce instances of harassment, and ensure that PWDs receive appropriate consideration on the roads.

Commissioner for Transportation, [insert name if known], stated that the move reflects the government’s commitment to building an inclusive society where no one is left behind. Registration for the special plates will be handled through a simplified process designed specifically for persons with disabilities.

Stakeholders and advocacy groups have welcomed the development, describing it as a step in the right direction toward equality and dignity for all road users.
