Tragedy struck in Calabar, Cross River State, on Tuesday night when Inspector Stephen Enang of the Nigerian Police Force collapsed and died shortly after watching Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League match.
Enang, a native of Ekori in Yakurr Local Government Area, was attached to the Akim Police Division along IBB Way. Known for his soft-spoken nature and deep passion for Arsenal, he was in high spirits throughout the game, celebrating each goal with great enthusiasm at a viewing center on Abang-Asang Street. However, after the final whistle, friends noticed he remained seated and unresponsive. Despite being rushed to the Police Hospital in Akim, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.
