The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has asked the people of Ondo State to allow the governor and the party’s candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to continue to provide progressive leadership.

Ganduje said this in Akure, while inaugurating the state national governorship campaign council, headed by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Former deputy Senate president, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, is the secretary of the campaign council.
Other members of the committee include governors, ministers and National Assembly members.

Ganduje said: “The governor is providing progressive leadership is a symbol of progressive ideology.
“We are here in Ondo State to assure you that this programme will continue providing the much-needed infrastructural facilities in both urban and rural areas.

“Ondo State people are blessed because they have a governor who is a lucky man. He was born a lucky man, he is seriously a lucky man and he will continue to be a lucky man.

“Mr. President is from this geo-political zone and, in order to show a mark of respect and that we appreciate him, we must ensure homogeneity in this geo-political zone, and it is a task that must be done through democratic means.”

Also speaking, Sanwo- Olu said: “Today makes it 305 days that Aiyedatiwa was sworn in as the governor of the state and, today, history is being made as I stand here because about four years ago I was privileged to have served as chairman of the national campaign council and again the party has given me the responsibility and I want to thank the President, the leader of our party who gave the leadership the support.”

He said the council’s campaign would not be on sentiment or abuse because “Aiyedatiwa has made our job to be simple and easier because in 305 days he has a compendium of projects that he has embarked on under his legacy agenda. He is a man we can go out with our full chest to assure the citizens of Ondo State that more developmental projects will be put in place in the next four years.”

On his part, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the interventions of his administration “in the the last 10 months justify our quest. Within the last 10 months we have deliberately focused on Infrastructural development, public utilities renewal, agricultural production increment, entrepreneurship and youth development, job creation and security. We have focused on strengthening governance institutions through fiscal discipline, improved healthcare, access to quality education and responsible citizenship.

He continued: “We have shown commitment to social welfare to alleviate the sufferings of our people. We have deliberately created a stronger engagement with our women, too. We are concerned with leadership with integrity and character.

“I believe the government is about the people. We are resolute and committed to that faith. We have worked hard for the hearts of the people. We are talking to them house to house, door to door and mouth to ears. Above all, we are committed to a peaceful and credible election, where votes count. We have no doubt that our strategies would be enhanced, our vitality more vigorous and our bonding with voters more decisive.”

APC National Vice Chairman South-West, Hon lsaac Kekemeke and Ondo State Chairman, Engineer Ade Adetimehin, boasted that Aiyedatiwa would have a landslide victory.

While Kekemeke said that Ondo State ” is ready to deliver 85 percent of the votes for Aiyedatiwa,” Adetimehin said the acceptance of Aiyedatiwa by Ondo people has intimidated candidates of other political parties.
