German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized that Ukraine needs continued military assistance from the West to fend off Moscow’s advances. He acknowledged that a quick peace is currently out of reach, stating, “Peace in Ukraine seems out of reach in the immediate future,” during a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.

Pistorius also reiterated Germany’s commitment to supporting Ukraine, declaring, “We will ensure that Ukraine continues to benefit from our joint military support.”

Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas highlighted that European nations had already pledged over €23 billion in military aid to Ukraine this year, surpassing last year’s contributions.

Germany, in particular, has decided to boost its military aid by an additional €3 billion this year, bringing its total to €7 billion. Overall, Berlin’s official support to Ukraine has exceeded €43 billion, with €15 billion allocated specifically for military purposes.
