Princess Eugenie has shared an adorable unseen snap of her and her son August during his joint christening with Zara and Mike Tindall’s son Lucas.

The Queen’s granddaughter, 31, posted the super-cute photo of August from his baptism at the All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park on Instagram yesterday [2 January].

Eugenie shared a series of heartfelt memories from 2021, including a touching picture of the Queen and the late Prince Philip who died in April 2021 aged 99.

Eugenie wrote on Instagram: “Happy New Year to all.. Goodbye 2021. A year that blessed us with our boy and saw our family grow with new additions but also a year that took some of our biggest and brightest lights. Forever in our hearts ♥️”

Last February Eugenie welcomed her first child, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, who is 11th in line to the throne, with her husband Jack Brooksbank.

August is the Queen’s ninth baby great-grandchild and his middle name is named after Prince Philip.

The cute snap of Eugenie and baby August sharing a sweet embrace was taken during his joint christening with cousin Lucas in Windsor.

He appears to be wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening gown, a Honiton lace and white satin gown that was first worn by James, Viscount Severn in 2008 – which makes August and Lucas the 10th and 11th royal babies to be christened in it.

The adorable outfit is a replica of the christening gown that was first worn by Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria in 1841 – the last royal baby to wear it for their christening was Lady Louise Windsor’s in 2004.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have also all worn the replica gown, as did Zara Tindall’s daughter Mia.

It was recreated by the Queen’s dresser, Angela Kelly, and matches the original gown that the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry also wore as babies.

The original gown has now been preserved, though Angela worked hard to replicate the new one as much as she could.

Angela explains in her 2019 book, The Other Side of the Coin, how the replica gown was dyed in Yorkshire tea to ensure it looked authentic.

Eugenie also shared a touching photo of her baby nieces footprints after sister Princess Beatrice gave birth to a baby daughter Sienna at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in September 2021.
