The Russian Defense Ministry announced Sunday the death of “about a hundred foreign mercenaries” in a high-precision missile strike in the vicinity of the town of Chasiv Yar in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
“Up to 100 foreign mercenaries and six armored vehicles were destroyed in the area of Chasiv Yar as a result of a high-precision weapons strike by the Russian Aerospace Forces on the temporary deployment points of the so-called militiamen of the so-called Foreign Legion,” Russian Army spokesman General Igor Konashenkov has said.
This small Ukrainian-controlled town has been the scene of intense hostilities for days, and Ukraine reported at least three injuries from a Russian missile hitting an apartment building last Saturday, according to the Ukrainian military governor of the region, Pavlo Kirilenko.
General Konashenkov also reported attacks on six Ukrainian command posts in Kherson and Kharkov regions and other parts of Donetsk, namely in the towns of Sadovoe, Dudchany, Zolotaya Balka, Yampol and Kislovka, he said at a press conference reported by the Russian agency TASS.
Finally, Konashenkov announced the destruction of an ammunition depot for a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the city of Dnipro, the scene of intense Russian shelling in recent days.
