Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the issuance of new short-term visas, including business (single and multiple-entry), e-tourist, and family visit visas, for citizens of 14 countries, including Nigeria.

According to Gulf News, the suspension will take effect on April 13, 2025, and affects nationals from Nigeria, India, Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Algeria, Indonesia, Iraq, Sudan, Bangladesh, and Libya.

Travelers from these countries who already hold valid visas will be allowed to enter the Kingdom until April 13 but must leave by April 29, the report stated.

Saudi authorities said the move is intended to enhance coordination of arrivals and maintain order and safety during preparations for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage.

This latest measure follows a previous decision in February 2025 to indefinitely suspend one-year multiple-entry visas for these countries and limit travel to single-entry visas valid for 30 days.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia has updated its guidelines for Umrah travel. Umrah visa issuance will now commence annually on the 14th of Dhu al-Hijjah and close on the 1st of Shawwal.

The Kingdom continues to stress the importance of securing the appropriate visa type for religious purposes and has warned of legal consequences for those who violate these regulations.
