A common skin condition affecting the scalp and resulting in scaly skin. Seborrheic dermatitis causes no serious harm to the body, including the hair. It appears as red, dry, flaky, itchy skin on the scalp and other parts of the body and is common but not contagious. Its presence doesn’t mean the skin is unclean or infected. Causes
The exact cause is not known, but few conditions which might be responsible are fungal infection, extremely oily skin or abnormal immune response.
