Tina Knowles Reveals Breast Cancer Battle in New Memoir

Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé and Solange, has opened up about her recent battle with breast cancer, sharing her journey in her newly released memoir, Matriarch. The 71-year-old author and entrepreneur was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in July 2024, after missing a routine mammogram during the COVID-19 pandemic. She emphasized the critical importance of regular screenings, stating, “If I had not gotten my test early, I shudder to think what could have happened to me.”

Knowles underwent a lumpectomy and breast reduction surgery later that year and is now cancer-free. She credits early detection and the support of her family, including daughters Beyoncé and Solange, for her positive outcome. In her memoir, she details her daughters’ reactions to the diagnosis, noting that Beyoncé remained positive and focused on the situation with precision, while Solange assured her, “Mom, we are going to take care of this.”

Despite her private nature, Knowles chose to share her experience to encourage other women to prioritize their health. She hopes her story will inspire others to stay vigilant with their health screenings and to seek support when needed
