The Delta State Police Command is currently investigating the death of Shimite Love, the Special Adviser on Trade and Export to the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. Shimite passed away early on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Asaba after being rushed there for medical treatment.

The incident was brought to light when her maid contacted her elder brother, expressing concern that her husband had allegedly locked her inside their home. When her brother arrived, he found Shimite with foam coming from her mouth. He quickly took her to the hospital, but she was declared dead upon arrival.

The police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed her death and stated that her husband is currently in protective custody, not under arrest. The husband had called to report his wife’s death and claimed he was receiving threats from her family. This prompted the police to bring him in for his safety. However, the family has raised suspicions, believing the husband may have been involved in Shimite’s death. They have formally lodged a complaint with the police.

The police are conducting a thorough investigation, and an autopsy is expected to determine whether the death was natural or suspicious. Family members have expressed concerns about the husband’s controlling behavior, alleging he isolated Shimite from her loved ones, monitored her movements, and made drastic changes to her personal affairs. They believe she may have been manipulated or even “hypnotized” by her husband, given his tight control over her life. The case is still under investigation, and more details are expected as it progresses.
