The second day of Nigerian Idol season 8 auditions began with a quick recap of the auditions aired last week. Goodness kickstarted the show by performing “Sweet Love” by Beyonce. Although gripped by fear when she first got on stage, she pulled through with a “Yes”, holding all the judges spellbound by her magical voice.
Next was Shina, who hoped he could be the next Idol, but might have to retry some other time. Oscar, who’s got a background in entertainment as an actor, decided it was time to try more. He didn’t win the Judges’ hearts after an attempt at performing his preferred Whitney Houston song – “I have nothing”. But D’banj believed Oscar would do better if he got a second chance and gave him a golden ticket.
Emmanuel Chisom had contested in the previous season but didn’t get through and decided to retry. He brilliantly qualified for theatre week. 17 yr old Constance believes singing is her gift and tried her luck at fame. She got the golden ticket to theatre week alongside Sandra, Ema and Ochi.
Daniel, Collins, Korede, and Moyinsola all gave their best but were asked to retry their luck next time.
Saviour, a.k.a Savvy, made it to theatre week last season but couldn’t make it to the live shows. He gave Nigerian Idol another shot believing he’s better after learning from his past mistakes. He won the judges’ hearts with his rendition of Asa’s ‘Eyo’ and got a triple YES.
Up next was Bukunola. She felt it was time to leave her room where she used to sing and show the world what she’s got. Unfortunately, the judges believe she still has a lot of work to do. Clinton came up right after and could not get a golden ticket.
Precious, a younger sister to Faith Mac – a Nigerian Idol season 6 contestant, proved music runs in the family after her heart-melting performance. Elita ended the night’s show by performing “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Giveon. Thankfully she didn’t break the judges’ hearts. She also secured a golden ticket.
Witness a spectacular display of raw talent as the next episode of Nigerian Idol takes viewers further on the quest to discover fresh and undiscovered voices. These gifted contestants will battle for the coveted golden tickets to propel them to theatre week. Brace yourself for an enthralling and unforgettable experience filled with laughter, intrigue, and mind-blowing performances.
