A tragic incident occurred in Lagos, where a victim has died from injuries sustained in an explosion at a CCTV dealer’s shop located on Kodesho Street, near Computer Village in Ikeja. The explosion, which took place on Friday, April 11, 2025, left five individuals wounded. A source close to the situation confirmed to Punch on Sunday that one of the victims passed away on Saturday evening despite efforts by doctors to save them.
“We lost one of them on Saturday evening. The doctors did their best, but he didn’t survive. The other victims are still being stabilized,” the source shared.
According to Lagos State Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the explosion occurred at around 6:35 p.m. and led to immediate action from law enforcement. Officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, Mobile Police Detachment, and other teams secured the area for public safety. Hundeyin stated that the EOD experts conducted a thorough examination of the scene to ensure safety and aid in the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Owohunwa Adegoke, also visited the scene for an assessment shortly after the blast. The injured individuals were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for treatment. Hundeyin confirmed the death of one victim and stated, “Yes, one victim passed away on Saturday.”
The investigation is still underway, and the police will release the findings once completed.
