Police Arrest Woman for Impersonating V.I.O in Adamawa, Defrauding Job Seekers of ₦350,000

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Face Samuel, a resident of Army Barracks Road in Yola-North Local Government Area, for impersonating a Vehicle Inspection Officer (V.I.O).

The arrest was announced in a statement released on Wednesday, April 23, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje. He stated that operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID) apprehended the suspect on Tuesday, April 22, following actionable intelligence received on her illicit activities.

According to Nguroje, the suspect had been posing as a V.I.O officer on multiple occasions and defrauded four individuals of a total sum of ₦350,000 under the guise of securing employment opportunities for them at the State Ministry of Transportation.

The victims identified in the report include Blessing Kefas, Abel Samuel, Evlyne Amos, and Friday Adamu.

“The suspect has confessed to committing the crime,” Nguroje stated, adding that she disclosed the V.I.O uniform used in perpetrating the fraud was provided by an as-yet unidentified individual.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has called on the public to remain vigilant and report individuals involved in such deceptive practices to the appropriate security agencies.

Investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to identify and apprehend the accomplice who supplied the suspect with the official uniform.
