Zelenskyy refuses to apologize to Trump after bust-up

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has not apologized for his dispute with Donald Trump during their meeting last Friday in Washington.

Speaking to journalists after his visit to London, the Ukrainian president acknowledged that “foes” could take advantage of such delicate negotiations, though he expressed hope that the disagreement would soon be forgotten.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not comment on whether he was caught off guard by Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, but he left the door open for future talks if he is “invited to resolve real issues.”

He said: “I traveled 12 hours by train, then flew for 11 hours because the president of the U.S. invited me. The U.S. is one of our main partners, and for me, it is a show of respect to be in the White House when the president of the U.S. invites me.

The Ukrainian leader also praised the initiative led by the UK and France, saying that these efforts “will bear fruit” in the coming weeks.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed that he will never recognize Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories, even as part of a peace agreement.
